After the Hastings High softball team's 10-0 win Aug. 29 against Minden, head coach Pete Theoharis knew the Tigers would see stiff competition in their next game against Grand Island.

And they did.

Hastings lost both games of a doubleheader Thursday, dropping the first game 8-0 and the second 14-4. The Islanders are ranked No. 5 in Class A, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

"I was encouraged with the way we fought back, especially when we were down in the (fifth) inning and got three runs to keep the game going," Theoharis said. "And the last inning, again, we had some more chances. Even though it was opposite of last Thursday, I'm so encouraged with where we are going."
