Hastings High quarterback Braedon Valentine had the look of confidence going into Friday's season-opener. His coach said he saw it in his signal-callers' eyes.
Valentine turned confidence into a stellar performance, throwing for three touchdowns and running for another to lift the Tigers to a 34-0 win over Gering at Lloyd Wilson Field.
"He did a fantastic job for his first start of the year," said HHS coach Erik Emerson. "Braedon had a couple of starts last year and that helped him today."
The Tigers unleashed their passing attack early and often, as Valentine completed 16 of 22 passes for 281 yards.
