'Just less' deer shrink firearm season totals

With the nine-day deer firearm season now in the books, check station personnel are finding hunters throughout Tribland brought in just a fraction of the numbers they did in 2012.

In Webster County, 322 deer were brought in to the Sheriff's Office in Red Cloud, which serves as the county check station. That figure is 90 fewer than in 2012.

"I believe last year we were down possibly that same amount from the previous year," dispatcher Deb Fisbeck said. "It's been a decline for the last couple years, anyway."
