Central Community College is preparing to spend what some would say is a long overdue $8.2 million on a major renovation on the Hastings campus.

The Campus Center and connecting Hall Building, located in the center of campus, will receive major renovations to change the current dining hall into a modern cafeteria and create more gathering space for students.

At least that's the goal for campus president Bill Hitesman.

"We don't really have a good congregating place on campus for students," he said. "This will fill that need."
