Faces of Tribland: Jamie Doell

Jamie Doell, pictured with her children, Shadon, 12,
Annalicia, 9, and Ezlynn, 5, was chosen in 2010 by Habitat
for Humanity to be the recipient of a refurbished house.

After years of living in rental properties, Jamie Doell is finally home.

Doell, 27, was chosen in 2010 as recipient of a Hastings Habitat for Humanity refurbishing project, moving into her newly revamped home in December 2010. To her, it was the end of a long journey that started with the birth of her first child at age 15.

Adopted by her parents, Jeff and Nancy Doell, at age 2, her upbringing was that of a stereotypical Midwestern girl through age 14. An unexpected pregnancy and childbirth at age 15 changed all that, however, bringing with it an entirely new set of challenges to overcome.

"Everything was good up until I decided I wanted to have a baby at 15," Doell said. "Things started to get a little rough from there."
