Fancy boxes for goodhearted donations

Hastings Tribune mailroom manager Betty Poe uses festive
wrapping paper to decorate the Goodfellows collection

With the Goodfellows holiday drive aiming to get plenty of toy donations for needy Hastings families, it helps when the donation boxes look pretty.

One Tribune employee hopes the TLC she gives the boxes at locations across Hastings will catch giving eyes.

Tribune mailroom manager Betty Poe said she donates all the wrapping that covers the boxes and wraps them with precision.

"I try to line up the wrapping paper to make sure it looks good," Poe said. "This year I took off the old paper and decorations and taped some of the boxes to make them sturdier."

Poe said the mailroom keeps her busy, but making time for a good cause is something she always puts in her schedule.

"I'm never too busy for something like this," she said.
