Strip club won't open in Minden

MINDEN — The strip club saga here appears to be over.

Jonathon Canterbury, the Miller man who applied for a business license with the city of Minden in August for an adult nightclub called Confessions, confirmed in an interview Tuesday he no longer plans to open an all-nude juice bar in downtown Minden or anywhere else in the community.

Canterbury said he is bitter over what he sees as Minden's hypocritical nature after a purchase deal fell through with Ron Keen, owner of the building at 234 E. Fourth St. that Canterbury planned to use for his business.

Keen declined to comment for this story. But Canterbury expressed his disdain for Minden in colorful terms.

"I'm just going to stay away from Minden because I see what kind of people actually do live in Minden," Canterbury said. "They're all on drugs and everything, but strip clubs are a bad thing."
