10/ 11 plans to purchase rural Superior TV station for $1.25 million

NUCKOLLS COUNTY — CBS affiliate KOLN/KGIN-TV has reached a deal to buy a television station here that has seen limited use the last three years and has a plan to enhance local programming.

The website www.northpine.com first reported in late November that Colins Broadcasting, which owns KSNB (Channel 4), and the Gray Television Group, which owns KOLN/KGIN (Channels 10-11), are seeking a failing-station waiver to create a TV duopoly in the Lincoln/Tri-Cities market. According to the asset purchase agreement, Gray would buy KSNB from Colins for $1.25 million.

In the failing-station waiver, Colins tells the Federal Communications Commission that if the sale is approved, KSNB under Gray’s ownership would carry a 30-minute weeknight newscast targeting Superior and central Nebraska and local sports programming.
