The marriage was low-key. He wore a dress shirt and tie, she painted each fingernail like a tiny tuxedo. They were flanked by their parents, her sister, and two friends at the Adams County Courthouse.
But it was a day — and a date — they will never forget. How could they when it was 12/12/12?
Michael Duensing and Bethany Cook were one of two couples who said "I do" at the courthouse Wednesday on the special date. The three 12s were the last time the calendar will display such a pattern for 89 years, when Jan. 1, 2101, rolls around.
The couple, who met nearly four years ago while both working at McDonald's, picked the date about three weeks ago.
"We had been wanting to do it for a long time," Bethany, 21, said of getting hitched.
