´╗┐Mention Hastings College basketball and chances are the name Lynn Farrell will enter the conversation at some point.

Farrell, 82, helped steer the college's once formidable basketball program back from the dark side in the early 1960s. Taking the helm following seven straight losing seasons, he went on to post a record of 464-204 in 24 seasons as head basketball coach, leading the Broncos to 15 conference titles and five NAIA District 11 championships.

Elected president of the NABC in 1980, he served on the U.S. Olympic Coaches and Players Selection Committee. He was inducted into Hastings College's Hall of Fame in 1989, just three years after retiring from the program.

Now on the college's alumni committee, he has taken on a new recruiting assignment of sorts, the task of helping invite every Bronco player and coach in the school's history back for a reunion event on Jan. 11-12, 2014.

The ceremony on Jan. 12 precedes the Broncos' regularly scheduled 2 p.m. game against University of Nebraska-Kearney at Lynn Farrell Arena.
