Gas prices continue to drop

Edging closer and closer to $3 per gallon in Hastings, fuel prices are at one of the lowest levels they've been all year and are anticipated to drop even further.

"It's an early Christmas present for those who are traveling during the holiday period," said Rose White, a spokeswoman for AAA Nebraska. "We do anticipate they will remain low and even continue to drop through the remainder of the year."

White said the last time prices were this low was in January. She said a number of factors are causing the drop, including retreating prices for crude oil, which closed Tuesday at $88.03 per barrel.
