With a blizzard warning in effect for much south central Nebraska, the city of Hastings has declared a snow emergency. The snow emergency went in effect Wednesday at noon and will remain in effect until Friday at 1 p.m.
During the hours the snow emergency is in effect, no vehicles may be parked on the city’s snow emergency routes. Almost all of the city’s stop sign protected streets are snow emergency routes. The routes also can be identified by red, white and blue emergency signs posted every few blocks on the streets.
The Hastings Police Department will be checking the city’s snow emergency routes for illegally parked vehicles.
Motorists are encouraged to limit their travel until the inclement weather subsides and the streets are cleared.
