The Lark wows with completion of first floor

The first part of a three-phase renovation has been
completed at The Lark, 809 West 2nd Street. The historic
building will act as the permanent home for The Listening
Room.

Someone has suggested that the directors of the new downtown concert and event space "The Lark" should emblazon a "wow" sign on the back wall of the venue in downtown Hastings and cue it each time a visitor crosses the threshold.

For, as the board of directors welcomed guests to a soft opening of the space on Dec. 6, that's the expression they heard over and over again: "Wow."

"We were very pleased," said Robin Harrell, director of The Lark and longtime leader of The Listening Room concert series, which will be among a variety of shows and events hosted at the space. "It was so fun to watch people walk in and just say 'Wow.' Plus, the crowd was a great mix of downtown merchants, Listening Room fans and newcomers."
