Through the intercession of a neighbor, grandmother and the Holy Family, a Hastings fifth-grader will have a little brighter Christmas this year.
Crayton Maurer, 11, has been putting up the family Christmas lights the last four years. His latest display, though, at the family's new home at 1811 Bateman St. is by far his proudest achievement to date. That it has come together at all can be attributed to both his watchful eye and the determination of his grandmother, Mary Anne Bramble.
Bramble, whose love of Christmas and decorating sparked her grandson's Christmas light fixation, bought him a rather elaborate Nativity outdoor yard display last year. The colorful set looks as though it were carved straight from a stained glass window.
