Goodfellows volunteers deliver

A group of some 25 faithful volunteers helped a team of 15 or so drivers assume the role of Santa Claus during delivery day for the Goodfellows program Saturday morning.

Many of the volunteers, including Doug Bruce, owner of Bruce Furniture, have been donating time to the program for decades.

Meeting up at Adams County Fairgrounds each year, several waves of volunteers assembled boxes, packed them with food and toys, and then moved them out the door Saturday morning for those families who were unable to pick them up Friday.

"It's kind of a family tradition," Bruce said. "What my family has done for the 22 years we've been involved is help get the boxes out for distribution to the families. One of my three sons has always been here to help me with it."
