Giltner players celebrate their Class D-2 state

Editor's note: From Dec. 24-31, the Tribune is looking back at memorable events in Tribland in 2012. This is the second part.

— Adams Central's school district joined the ranks of just 18 accredited school districts in Nebraska, which includes Hastings Public Schools. The accrediting body is AdvancED.

— Adams Central announced the new principals for the realigned elementary schools: Allyson Bohlen at Wallace, Lonnie Abbott at District 15, and Jennifer Pohlson at Juniata. Abbott moved from Juniata to his new assignment.

— The Sandy Creek girls basketball team defeated Minden in the Class C-1 state championship to win its 10th state title.

— The Hastings College men's track and field team finished fifth at the NAIA national indoor championships after finishing day one in first place.

— The Hastings College women's basketball team fell to the College of the Ozarks in the second round of the NAIA Division II national tournament.

— The Giltner boys basketball team defeated Howells 52-41 to earn its second straight Class D-2 state title.
