MINDEN — Members of the Harold Warp Pioneer Village Foundation board of directors want local residents to embrace the museum and its future.
That, board member Larry Wilcox said, is an emphasis of a recently announced challenge gift. An anonymous donor has offered to match unrestricted donations up to $1 million through 2014.
"People feel, 'Why should we give money to something that is not ours as a community?' " he said. "People have to realize it is a community museum, and that's where we have to touch base and get this misnomer taken care of. I think once we do that, people will donate more to the museum, matching funds because they realize it is part of their heritage out here."
