— Nearly 300 people attended the 140th anniversary celebration of the Home on the Range cabin near Athol, Kan., on Independence Day.
— Hastings College golfer Tasha Keiter was killed in a single-vehicle rollover near the KAAPA Ethanol Fuels plant seven miles west of Minden.
— Hastings competitive swimmers Courtney Cuddeford and Johan Vizoso served as basket carriers during the U.S. Olympic swim trials in Omaha.
— A bomb threat closed the Adams County Bank in Juniata. No bombs were found.
— Mary Lanning Healthcare played host to an open house at the hospital's new catheterization lab, which opened in April.
