MINDEN — Artem seemed at home with his prospective new family from the first moment he saw them.
Paul and Michelle Mosley of Minden had been working about a year to adopt the 6-year-old Russian boy. They met him for the first time during a seven-day trip in November visiting the institution in Russia's Smolensky region where Artem, who has Down syndrome, has lived most of his life.
"I just sat across the table and just waited for him to come in," Michelle said, remembering that first day. "I wanted to see what he was like, what he was looking for."
