SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Hastings College volleyball team reached the round of eight at the NAIA national tournament, but fell to No. 1 Concordia (Calif.) 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 Friday night at the Tyson Events Center.
Earlier in the day, the No. 8 Broncos knocked off No. 9 Lee (Tenn.) 15-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-20 to advance.
That early win came in the middle of a wild 24-hour span for the team. The night before, HC survived a tiebreaker tournament that went past 11:30 p.m. The Broncos and Lee then played at 10 a.m. Friday.
After a long night that included ice baths and little sleep, according to coach Matt Buttermore, Hastings College had a steep challenge in its morning match.
The Broncos dropped the first set after falling behind early to the Flames by as much as nine points.
