The Adams Central girls basketball team hasn’t had the easiest of starts in its schedule.

The Patriots had back-to-back games against Class B competition, opening with a 68-44 setback to 10th-ranked Holdrege on Friday.
The Class C-1 Patriots didn’t back down against Aurora (2-0) Saturday afternoon, and even had a chance to pull out a come-from-behind victory but fell 47-43 at Adams Central.

After trailing by as many as nine points in the first half, trailing 29-21 at halftime, AC (0-2) cut the Aurora lead to just three in the third quarter.

Then in the fourth, freshman Jacki Fowler hit a 3-pointer with 13.9 seconds remaining to cut the Aurora lead back to three at 46-43. All AC needed to do was get a quick foul, and maybe have one more possession for the tie.
