MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Leading 2-1 late in its second round match against Missouri Valley College at the NAIA national championship, the Hastings College men's soccer team actually had its back against the wall.
The No. 10 Vikings (13-4-4) controlled possession in the final 10 minutes, coming at the No. 7 Broncos' (20-3-0) defense in waves until finally, with 2:52 left on the clock, they got the equalizer off of a header.
Hastings rallied, and with the ball deep in the Vikings' zone, Tyler Ortlieb executed a long throw-in that left the ball just at the feet of Thomas Boss outside the 16-yard box.
