HC men improve to 10-2

LINCOLN — The Hastings College men’s basketball got back to its winning ways Wednesday night, hanging on to down Nebraska Wesleyan 64-58.

The game, which came after the Broncos fell at Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, was the 125th meeting all-time between the two schools.

HC improves to 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with the win. The Broncos, who are receiving votes in the NAIA Division II poll that came out Tuesday, sit in a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings behind No. 14 Doane (4-1), Morningside (3-1) and No. 9 Northwestern (3-2).

HC did just enough to defeat the only remaining team without a conference win Wednesday.
The game featured nine ties and six lead changes. Hastings never trailed in the second half after taking a 32-27 lead into halftime, but Nebraska Wesleyan was within 44-43 with 11 minutes left in the game and trailed just 57-55 with two minutes remaining.
