Tiger girls lose season opener

SEWARD — The Hastings Tigers girls' basketball team dropped its season opener on the road at Seward 44-37 Thursday.

Despite seeing a full-court press for most of the first quarter, the Tigers outscored Seward 14-11 in the opening frame.

The Tigers and Lady Jays were knotted at 20 going into halftime and then at 31 going into the pivotal fourth quarter where the Tigers were outscored 13-6.
"What I liked is we were true to our principles," said Tigers head coach Greg Mays. "What I didn't like is we didn't adjust. You can run a press in practice and it's a certain kind of press. It can be a pretty good press, but it's different.
