KENESAW — Clutch free-throw shooting, a solid defense effort in the fourth quarter and a 20-point performance by junior Trevor Burr helped the Kenesaw Blue Devils hold off Blue Hill 54-48 at home in the season opener Thursday night for both teams.
"I knew we could make some free throws, or at least I thought we could. We're usually a pretty good free throw shooting team," Kenesaw head boys basketball coach Jack Einrem said. "That kind of took a little bit of the monkey off our back.
Burr went 5-for-8 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. He scored 11 points in the first half, including a buzzer-beating layup to put Kenesaw up by eight — 31-23.
