Bluehawks drop opener in overtime

St. Cecilia's Brooks Asher tries to keep possession of the ball
against Columbus Scotus' Tyler Morton Thursday in Hastings.

The St. Cecilia boy's basketball team tipped off their season Thursday when it hosted Scotus. It was the Shamrocks that walked away with an overtime win 50-41.

The Shamrocks outscored the Bluehawks 12-3 in overtime.

"That's the experiences of the game," St. Cecilia head coach Kevin Asher said.

"Our kids are down because they got beat, because of the final score. But those things; we'll learn from. Getting to overtime, handling a lead, then coming back from a deficit, then figuring out what went wrong in the final four minutes (of overtime), those are good experiences to have."
