Patriots drop opener to Holdrege

The season started a few minutes late for the Adams Central girls basketball team.

In their opener against Class B No. 9 Holdrege, the Patriots didn't find the basket until senior Alexis Grimmett hit a free throw with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter. Before that point, the Dusters were already up 8-0.

Those shooting woes proved to be costly as the Patriots dropped a tough test to Holdrege 62-38 Friday night at Patriot Gym.

"Sometimes a team likes to have a little bit easier game to start, and ease into things. We didn't have that option," said Adams Central head coach Tim Marker
