GILTNER — Hastings College volleyball head coach Matt Buttermore has said it's an emphasis in recruiting to grab a few local players.
The first-year coach didn't have to go to far to find one.
Giltner standout Abbey Preissler made her college decision official, signing with the Broncos Friday in a ceremony at her high school with family and friends present.
Along with academics, the 5-foot-11 Preissler said she was impressed with the Broncos' success this past season — HC finished the season ranked No. 6 in the NAIA.
"I visited there and I really liked the area. I've grown up around Hastings and I wanted to stay close. I was really impressed with the science area, and biology is what I want to go into," she said. "I like the coaching staff, and I'm excited. They've been doing great. I was really impressed. It's (Buttermore's) first year and he really turned the program around."
