St. Cecilia boys basketball coach Kevin Asher said he wanted his team to defend its home court for Friday night's game with subdistrict rival Doniphan-Trumbull.
His players took him literally.
The Bluehawks stifled high-scoring Doniphan-Trumbull — holding the Cardinals well under their season scoring average — en route to posting a 44-31 victory at Chapman Gymnasium, the first win of the season for the Bluehawks.
"We weren't really concerned with the scores or the fact that we were 0-2. We were concerned with how well we were playing and I wanted us to come out and defend our home court," Asher said.
