Every game, the goal for the Adams Central boys basketball team is to limit their opponents to 20 points per half.
Against Wood River (1-4), the Patriot defense held the Eagles to fewer 20 points for the game.
AC (4-0) limited the Eagles to just two points in the first, second and fourth quarters to post a 55-19 win Saturday afternoon at Adams Central.
Despite beating the team goal handily, head coach Zac Foster downplayed any ideas of a reward for his team other than a win.
“We played well defensively. Wood River played hard, but they’re really young. Coach (Dave) Bahe is doing a really good job. We’re playing seniors, and they’re playing freshman and sophomores,” Foster said. “Our kids did what they were supposed to.”
After a close start to the game that saw AC lead just 4-2, the Patriots went on a 21-0 run that wasn’t stopped until the 4:22 remained in the second quarter.
