ROSELAND — Silver Lake got hot. Red Cloud did not.

The Mustangs reeled off 13 unanswered points in the second quarter, then unleashed a 12-0 scoring spree in the third quarter to run away with a 38-16 victory Saturday.

Silver Lake (3-2) outscored Red Cloud 27-9 during the middle two quarters of the Twin Valley Conference game.

“That’s when we really pushed the ball hard,” said Silver Lake coach Keith Crowe, referring to his squad’s second- and third-quarter outbreaks. “Red Cloud is very, very patient, and we want to push the tempo. We play better in up-tempo.”

Red Cloud (2-2) kept the Mustangs’ leading scorer, Mackenzie Skupa, under wraps most of the game. Other Silver Lake shooters took up the slack.
