On the road Friday at Holdrege, the Hastings High boys basketball team suffered a tough defeat in overtime. On Saturday, the Tigers were given a chance to make amends for it when their clash with Columbus also needed extra time.
The Tigers almost blew it, though.
The team held the Discoverers to just two points in the first overtime period, but Hastings missed all four of its free throw attempts to finish with just two points itself.
But in the second overtime, the Tigers' hit 9-of-10 from the charity stripe to outscore the visitors 11-5 and take a thrilling 50-44 victory.
