AC girls clamp down on Gibbon for second win of season

Adams Central girls basketball coach Tim Marker understands that defense is always a work in progress.

But Saturday, at the Adams Central gymnasium, Marker saw his team take a big step forward.

The Patriots held Gibbon scoreless throughout nearly the first 11 minutes of the game. And that helped lead to the Patriots picking up their second victory of the season — a decisive 63-29 win over Gibbon.

“We like to play a full-court game, play up tempo and really force the pace of the game,” Marker said. “We have a lot of kids who want to play and that favors the style and the pace that we like to play at. We can keep a lot of fresh legs out on the floor.”
