BLUE HILL — Collin Brown received his football jersey for the 2012 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl in a ceremony here Tuesday.

The Blue Hill eighth-grader was selected among 4,000 applicants nationwide to be one of 52 representatives in the all-star game at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio on Jan. 6, as part of the weekend for the U.S. Army All-America Bowl — a game featuring the top seniors in the nation.

The game Brown will play in features the best junior high players in the country, and gives a glimpse to the next generation of prep and college gridiron stars. The West team features a player who already has committed to LSU in running back Dylan Moses.

At 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, the Blue Hill 14-year-old will start at offensive tackle for the East.

“I’m excited, anxious and nervous all at the same time,” Brown said. “It’s a big difference from anything around here. I’m surprised that a small-town kid got into it.”
