Coming off an impressive 49-32 win over preseason Class C-1 No. 3 Sandy Creek in the Wilber-Clatonia pre-holiday tournament Saturday, the Fillmore Central girls basketball team finds itself in a spot where its expectations for the season can change.
In a good way, of course.
At the start of a season, there is excitement. And the unknown. Head coach Mark Madison can attest to that.
“We had high expectations going in, but we weren’t sure how everything was going to go together. So far, I’ve been really pleased with how we’ve come together as a group,” said Madison, whose team is off to a 6-1 start. “Our defensive intensity is better than I thought it would be. It’s really surprised me, and it’s paid off for them.”
