The game Tuesday night at Chapman gymnasium between to 4-0 teams looked nothing like a battle of unbeatens.
St. Cecilia forced 12 turnovers while jumping out to a 20-0 lead against the St. Paul girls basketball team. The No. 6 Hawkettes (5-0) pushed their dominant lead to 34-6 at halftime and eventually cruised to a 50-20 win.
St. Paul (4-1) had 20 giveaways and shot just 7-of-44 from the field, hitting three field goals in the first half. The Hawkettes’ defense set the tone early, as senior Morgan Nikkila had all of her team-high five steals in the first eight minutes.
