BLASNITZ: Minden boys feature many new faces

Minden's Isaac Carlson shoots against Boone Central's Beau
Bremer Monday in Minden.

Last season, the Minden boys basketball team had five senior starters and one dream of a state title. Unfortunately for the Whippets, the goal was not accomplished.

But the graduation of the five seniors left Minden with several players with some playing experience, but no starting experience.

"I think early on we were a little bit nervous. When we're playing together as a team and we're playing defense, we're a pretty good team. But when things break down or things get a little close, we get a little nervous," said Minden head coach Shannon Lovin, whose Whippets ended up placing fourth at the state tournament last year. "We're not quite there confidence-wise. Hopefully our confidence will grow soon and we'll be able to pull through."
