The Hastings High boys basketball team used a 10-0 run midway through the third quarter to take complete control of the game and cruise to a 57-41 victory over the Cozad (2-2) Haymakers on Friday night in Hastings.
The run came after Cozad hit a jumper to knot the score at 30-all, but the Tigers (2-3) responded with a 16-4 rally to end the quarter highlighted by five straight points from sophomore Morgan Karloff during the spurt. Senior Ben Claussen and sophomore Sam Reimer also hit key 3-pointers during the run with Reimer hitting long range bombs on consecutive possessions. Claussen finished with nine points.
"Sam is a very streaky shooter for us right now at times but he took good shots tonight," Hastings coach Lance Creech said. "Our offense did a pretty good job of finding the open shooter tonight."
