FAIRFIELD — Stingy.
That's the best word to describe St. Cecilia's style of defense — in your face, always pushing to get the basketball. This time, Sandy Creek was the victim.
The preseason Class C-2 No. 7 Hawkettes finished with 18 steals, while also forcing their opponent to commit 30 turnovers, en route to a comfortable 53-28 win over preseason Class C-1 No. 3 Sandy Creek Friday night in Fairfield.
The Hawkettes improve to 6-0, and now hold opposing offenses to an average of just 29.6 points per game. Sandy Creek drops its second consecutive game to sit 5-3. Both losses are against teams that are a combined 13-1.
