D-T girls escape with 49-47 win

DONIPHAN — In a game that saw seven lead changes and eight ties, the Doniphan-Trumbull girls basketball team (2-4) relied on a stretch of late free throws to escape with a 49-47 win over Fillmore Central (4-3) Saturday night.

"Free throws have been our nemesis so far this year, and I think, if nothing else, we might have made a truce with free throws tonight," D-T head coach Mark Davis said.

While Fillmore Central won the opening tip and worked the ball around the perimeter for 43 seconds before a missing three-pointer, it was D-T who struck first with a layup by Jordyn Brummund. The Panthers answered back with a pair of free throws and one more bucket before they were answered with a two-point basket from Kaylee Glover with 4:18 remaining.
