HARVARD — After a rusty start by the offense in the first quarter, the Wilcox-Hildreth girls basketball team outscored Kenesaw 17-2 in the second quarter en rout to a 47-21 victory Friday at the Harvard holiday tournament.
Falcons' head coach Dave Mroczek knew that scoring might be difficult to start, considering that both teams had just come off of a five-day moratorium with limited practice time. Leading 12-8 after one, Wilcox-Hildreth senior Rachel Arehart hit with 11 consecutive points, giving her side some much-needed confidence on the offensive end of the floor.
"Our girls didn't do anything over break. We're in a remote area where you can't go to the YMCA and practice — it's tough. We had a shootaround this morning before we left, but I knew we would come out flat," said Mroczek.
