Hastings guitarist plays for smiles

Richard Brunson, pictured in his home January 21, has been
playing guitar since he was 13-years-old. The Hastings
resident, who moved here from Hawaii, plays with area
bands on gigs throughout the region.

As a 13-year-old youngster growing up in Hawaii near Pearl Harbor in the early 1970s, Richard Brunson had a dream.

In it, he was playing guitar. When he awoke, he asked his dad, Thee, who died later that same year, to buy him one.

"He gave me like 20 bucks and I rode my bike up to the corner store and bought a little guitar," he said.
