What do glitter, feathers masks, beads, balloons, and dolls all have in common? They were the inanimate objects that became animated when local youth attended the American Girl Mardi Gras event Saturday afternoon at the Hastings Museum.
Children and dolls alike graced the halls of the East Gallery for a family event that encouraged kids to bring their American Girl dolls to the museum to enjoy a day full of Mardi Gras tradition and history.
Russanne Erickson, curator of education, said 130 attendees pre-registered for the event. Museum members were able to attend the event free of charge, while non-members paid regular admission in order to attend.
“We wanted to do a fun, but educational event including the dolls,” Erickson said.
