Faces of Tribland: New owners excited to highlight community

Randy and Jodi Sadd work on the Doniphan Herald from their
home Saturday afternoon. The Doniphan couple recently
purchased the weekly paper.

DONIPHAN — Whether it's a chili feed in Giltner or the Doniphan-Trumbull Elementary School winter program, the weekly newspaper is where residents of small towns like Doniphan can read about the happenings in their communities.

The weekly newspaper is a hub for community spirit — and that is why Doniphan residents Randy, 40, and Jodi Sadd, 44, chose to purchase the Doniphan Herald from Darren and Cassie Ivy at the end of December 2012.

"People can go on the Internet and find out the world news and Nebraska news, but as far as the local news on what's going on in the town, you can't get that on the Internet," Jodi said. "That's why I think the local, little small-town newspapers are the thing to be in the future."

Local residents still get excited about seeing their names and photos in the newspaper, Randy said.
