Fire damages home in west Hastings

Firefighters put out a blaze Tuesday at 2018 W. Fifth St. The fire caused significant damage to the house and may be related to the death of a dog.
The residence was reportedly occupied by Dylan Topham and Holly Buck.
Firefighters were called at 5:18 p.m. to the residence, owned by Amy Swanson of Ashton, Iowa.
Firefighters reportedly encountered heavy smoke coming from the front door. Closer inspection revealed the smoke was coming from a vent in the middle of the front room.
