Quiz Bowl: A not-so-trivial pursuit

Michelle Kerr talks with Hastings Middle School sixth-
graders, including Kendal Jones and Iann Johnson, about
their strategy for the next round of Quiz Bowl hosted by
Educational Service Unit No. 9 at Central Community
College-Hastings Tuesday.

Q: What is the principle female character in a movie called?
A: Heroine

Q:
What is the name of the order by a judge for punishment?
A: Sentence.

Q:
Scientists estimate there are 200 billion, billion stars in the universe. That number is a two with how many zeroes behind it?
A: Twenty.

These questions and hundreds more helped determine which team of elementary students knew the most trivia at the Elementary Quiz Bowl tournament on Tuesday at Central Community College-Hastings student center.

"Some of them can be really easy while others I have no way of knowing," said Kate Askey, 11, a sixth-grade student at Doniphan-Trumbull.
