Less than two weeks after she was sentenced in Buffalo County District Court to serve up to 90 years in prison for prostituting her daughters, a 36-year-old Upland woman was sentenced Monday in Furnas County to serve 12-20 years on a related charge.
Judge David Urbom sentenced the woman to serve not less than 12 nor more than 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit a Class 2 felony, itself a Class 2 felony, punishable by up to 50 years in prison.
The woman's name is being withheld by the Tribune to protect the identity of the two daughters.
Even though the sentence is less than half of the maximum penalty, it adds time to what is already essentially a life sentence. Her sentence would be consecutive to any other sentence she serves at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York.
Judge John Icenogle sentenced the woman Jan. 23 in Kearney to a minimum of 50 years in prison for conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault of a child, the maximum penalty for the charge; and 15-20 years in prison for each of the child pornography charges.
She also faces charges in Franklin County: Five counts of visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct, a Class 1D felony; two counts of exploitation of a minor for sex, a Class 2 felony; and two counts of child abuse, a Class 3A felony. Her sentencing there is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday.
