Boys and girls bowling teams from all three of Hastings high schools will be looking to put their best balls forward at the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation State competition Saturday and Sunday in Lincoln.
On the boys side, Hastings High notched its ninth straight state berth in Class B competition, the only boys team in Class B to advance in each of its first nine seasons since the league was established. Coached by Butch Hogan and assistant coach Chris Christian, the team finished the season 11-2.
Pacing the squad were lone senior Corey Luce, who notched the highest individual average in the Tigers' conference with a 198 mark, and junior Wyatt Davis, whose 195 average was third best overall. As a team, the HHS boys had a league-high 925 average.
"They were pretty competitive all year," Hogan said of the team. "Even though we had four seniors graduate last year, we had the best JV state team. A lot of our sophomores would have been starting on almost any other team."
