The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and NETwork Hastings recognized a group of young professionals in the city Wednesday evening at the annual chamber banquet at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

The New Emerging Talent Awards serve to recognize 15 young professionals in Hastings and their contribution to the betterment of the community

Matt Fong, co-president of NETwork Hastings, presented the awards. He said the group formed about five years ago to draw and retain young professionals in the community. Young professionals involved in the group meet every month and encourage participation in the community, learn about the city and help make it more welcoming for other young professionals.

"We are delighted to partner with the chamber of commerce to present the first-ever New Emerging Talent Awards," he said.

To be considered for the award, nominees must be between the ages of 21-40, pursue excellence and possess leadership qualities in their chosen profession, and work to improve the quality of life in the community of Hastings.
