Hastings runners will be able to participate in a half marathon race, or one of four other distances, this summer without leaving town.
While many details still have yet to be arranged — including courses and the event name — organizer Ron Alexander confirmed the event will occur June 22, a Saturday. Besides a half marathon (13.1 miles), the event will include 10-mile, 10k and 5k runs as well a 1-mile kids fun run.
"I love running," said Alexander, who is Adams Central's activity director. "I think the city of Hastings has proven with major events like the state softball tournament and different softball events at the complex we're terrific hosts, and it's just one more way to showcase the city of Hastings and bring more people to this area to eat in restaurants and stay in hotels."
